And probably my feelings would change if I see the real thing, pictures are not enough to feel the soul of watches 😉

38 mm offshore … 25807ST. Gay Frères bracelet.
By: SingaporeMarc : April 6th, 2024-19:05
I am a fan of the 25807ST which is the smallest offshore (38 mm) made by AP for a short period of time circa 1996. 1,000 pieces made and then production stopped. I was looking at my steel bracelet and I saw a small stamp. After getting out the macro camer...
A collectible piece IMHO

Being like everyone else and having what everyone else has is something I used to aspire toward when I was much younger. I now like to express my individuality with pieces like the 25807ST. For those who know. ☺️
Truly lovely reference.

I must be maturing as 38mm seems to be the sweetspot. Hopefully my watch fund matures soon too!!
Thanks bro

It’s has the flavor of BOTH a royal oak and an offshore with a blue dial and complication. If it was a production watch today, we know how much these would be going for. ☺️
Hi Mike. I think all 1,000 of them

Should have the GF stamp. I think most sellers don’t even know about the GF stamp. A collected man article ...
Thanks bro

Proportions are paramount ☀️
Thanks Jakx
By: SingaporeMarc : April 7th, 2024-10:49
See how useless “Case Diameter” alone is as a gauge of how a watch will wear? 😅 These dimensions are far more important: ✅ Dial size ✅ Lug-to-lug ✅ Thickness It’s all about proportionality and the ratios of one dimension to another. And yes, I generally f...
Agree. We have similar taste ☀️

The petite tapissary dial would have been cut on a pantograph. We mostly see mega on offshores.
I like it a lot, sportier than a RO but still limited proportions

Make it in Ti with some kind of micro adjustment for the bracelet, and it would be perfect! Never seen one in the flesh, but my only comment based on pictures is the size of the seconds subdial, looks a bit small. Enjoy it!
Thanks bro. I think the seconds subdial
By: SingaporeMarc : April 7th, 2024-10:53
Would be too big for this dial it made bigger. The symmetry is is a big part of this model. I hear you on the changes for a production model. Having said that, part of the charm of this model is that it’s neo-vintage and has certain things about it that a...

I agree

I would say that’s it quirky cool when so many offshores started to look alike. This one stands proud of its quirkiness. ☺️ I had the offshore Polaris and sold it last year. Just didn’t fit in with my desire for quiet luxury. More subtle.
Oh nice☀️

Which RO chrono do you have ? I have one too but not in steel. Mine is in rose gold. 🤝
Wow 🤩 so clean looking
By: SingaporeMarc : April 8th, 2024-07:48
I quite like your 26300 ❤️ Mine is the rose gold 26022 Circa 2007 with the little square indices. Discontinued now. ...
Stunning! 🤤
By: 1WatchMan : April 8th, 2024-20:12
I really love the gold variants with those square indices. Before buying mine years ago, I was just about to purchase the equivalent to yours in white gold, but it never happened.
Thanks 😊

Yours more macho and sporty. Mine a bit more “dressy” … Both lovely in their own way.
14802?
By: SingaporeMarc : April 9th, 2024-06:43
I think worth selling the other RO to make room for this. 🤔
Exactly that one!
By: 1WatchMan : April 9th, 2024-17:05
That what I'm considering, but I'll have to part with more than one watch, which is really hard for me...

These are tough choices.
That’s why I tend to focus
By: SingaporeMarc : April 11th, 2024-04:38
On certain brands and then deep dive in. AP, GP and Minerva. Else, too many distractions as you say. 😅
The bracelet is definitely special!

But I actually am enjoying more the annual calendar complication on a rugged sports model. This and the perpetual offshore really must have shocked a lot of traditional collectors at the time of launch 30 years ago. Nice to see Patek and VC following more...
Hi Peter
By: SingaporeMarc : April 7th, 2024-14:03
This 25807ST is kinda rugged … so it’s a cool thing to have the JLC annual calendar on a more discreet sized offshore. It was launched at a time when “big is better”. We seem trending turning to 38 mm again. So it would not surprise me to see the offshore...
