Anyone know how to demagnetize a watch? I downloaded the Lepsis app on my phone. Shows a watch magnetized. Ordered demagnetizer and passed watch

through it and didn’t do a thing. Any thoughts other than take it to a watchmaker?

I passed another watch over my iPhone Lepsi app and it said it was demagnetized also. But it’s running fine. So ???? [nt]

I don't know which demagnetizer you have but my experience is the inexpensive ones don't generate a strong enough field to do the job. [nt]

Did you download the user guide from the Lepsi site ? …

Usually, after one operation your watch will be free of all magnetic fields, but in some cases the operation will need to be performed again.

Yes. I have a Bergeon demagnetizer. You pass the watch in the circle. You push the button, you wait one minute, then you slowly remove the watch et voilà. [nt]

Personally I like the Bergeon system. [nt]

And a bad reading?

Send to watchmaker?

I use an old plug in soldering iron...

or an electric drill. Both produce a pretty strong magnetic field. Works fine as a demagnetizer. confirmed with a small compass.

My watchmaker showed me how. I was like this is how I do it and he was very patient.

Then, he said, okay, now this is how you do it correctly. 😅

I have a donut demagnetizer, which is what he recommended. You hold the watch face up in the donut, as soon as you start holding the button to activate it, with your other hand you quickly (yes, quickly) and smoothly pull the watch in a line orthogonally away from the plane of the hole of the donut to about 3 feet and stop the demagnetizer.
It is at this time that you remember to take out your wallet and put it far away from what you are doing...
Now repeat with the watch face down.
Now again with the watch crown down.
Now crown up
Now diagonally this way and again the other way, etc.
You are equalizing any magnetic forces on your watch, so everything in any direction will now balance out.
It works swell! Just wind your watch and see how it is now. It should be better after a full wind down. Otherwise, repeat.
