Montblanc Black and White week in Singapore - cocktail party

May 04, 2016,02:21 AM

Last night I attended a cocktail party organized for Montblanc customers where the new 2016 products were shown. It's quite similar to the event Ken attended in Tokyo so you will see similar products and pictures from my post - hopefully with a different angle.

For me, it was a feast for the eyes and senses to finally see the 2016 novelties, especially the new 4810 collection.

the party was held in the old Aston Martin showroom in Singapore - this part of Singapore has converted into nice event halls . I was happy to bring my 1858 Tachymeter Chronograph along for the event, along with a blue tie, blue Montblanc belt and blue shoes smile

A typical Montblanc Villeret watchmaker's desk. With Julien Miribel at the helm of course.

A feast for the eyes to see both the Montblanc Villeret Tourbillon Cylinderique Geospheres side by side! The red gold version and the white gold Nightsky version. Both of these were launched in 2015.

The Montblanc Villeret ExoTourbillon Rattrapante launched back in 2013.

Ah the new 4810 ExoTourbillon Slim in red gold. This is the regular production model and priced very attractively for a Tourbillon in a gold case.

And here we have the limited edition 4810 ExoTourbillon slim in white gold and a very attractive lacquered miniature painted map. Limited to 38 for Asia, 36 for Europe and 36 for America making a total of 110 to celebrate Montblanc's 110th anniversary.

My favorite being based here - the Asian version

The 42mm 4810 ExoTourbillon slim on my wrist.

I quite like the movement of the ExoTourbillon slim with the micro rotor

Another shot of the ExoTourbillon Slim movement - from the front

The 1858 collection in blue.

The new 4810 Orbis Terrarum. The dial looks livelier than the previous Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum.

The 4810 Orbis Terrarum pocket watch in steel limited to 110 pieces.

Another new pocket watch - the very exclusive Villeret Tourbillion Cylinderique Geospheres pocket watch

Good to see this one again! The Timewalker ExoTourbillon minute chronograph launched in Singapore last year by Jerome Lambert.

Some other pics I took last evening:

There are some watches which were shown at the event with no restrictions on photo taking but Montblanc displayed a launch / embargo date later in the year. I don't really understand this practice but will honor the embargo rules even if I suspect some customers or bloggers would have posted these pics on Instagram or Snapchat already smile

There was even a professional snake charmer last evening with a python with him and guests were invited to touch and hold the well trained python. I am a wimp so I didn't try that :p

Hope you enjoyed the virtual tour I shared here smile

Cheers
Robin

There are a lot of things to see and admire. The Rouge et Noir pen, some bags, such as the blue one, which would nicely complement our beloved 1858 Tachymeter, and this last one, of course. The Tourbillon Geospheres Vasco de Gama is also a feast for the e...

Not that I know of

So far I haven\'t heard of any patent issues Cheers Robin

I agree. Rouge-et-Noir pens are really fascinating!

I had a great time last night with many collector friends. It\'s funny the 2 camps start to gel - pen vs watch collectors lol. No longer team Iron Man vs Team Cap America Cheers Robin

We started with pen collecting before watches

 By: MTF : May 4th, 2016-10:31
The current Mrs MTF and I collected pens before getting into watches. This is probably because in the early 1990s, watches had not really been promoted as heavily as today. Then, ThePuristS was started and the rest is history. That single website and the ...

You sure had the right watch for the event Bet you got lots of compliments on it.

And lots of frustrated collectors too to be honest

Quite a few wanted to buy this 1858 Tachymeter but was told its all sold out! :p

Thanks Robin for the report!

The most impressive point for me is the wide range of novelties from affordable watches to superlative ones. Fx

It's very true Fx

Not biased here - I am impressed they really live up to their tagline "Sharing the passion for fine watchmaking" Cheers Robin

Nice!

Thanks for this extensive photo report! Given my modest means and desires, there were two watches that really stood out for me - the one you brought with and the 4810 pocket watch. The later I find so nicely romantic, with Hamburg and Southhampton on the ...

Ah yes the 4810 Pocket Watch

 By: jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) : May 5th, 2016-02:30
I like that one too. Unfortunately it is limited to 110 pieces so if I don\'t get soon it may be gone in a few months\' time. And I lack watch funds at this point! :p

Just a bit more I think

enamel dials of the exotourbillon? Is it cloisonné or champleve technique ? Cheers Gordon

They are hand-painted dials.

 By: foversta : May 7th, 2016-14:33
It is the reason why that each dial is unique because there are slight differences between them. Fx

Yep Fx is right

It\'s miniature painting on the dial. Not grand feu enamel Gordon, else the price will be.... :p Cheers Robin
