...realizing that we're all in a game that is truly just nonsense things.  Fonzie jumped the shark and we all went home.

Funny thought:  Imagine that video accurately overdubbed to remove the pompous continental accents, and to drop in a mix of say,..  southern NASCAR drawls and maybe some street slang from the hood.

Who is the "target" audience for the two new JLC showpieces... the Quadriptyque at 1.35 million euros the Nonantieme at US$40,500.00 Granted, there are many Uber-rich across the globe these days, and selling 10 Quadriptyques at full retail (I'm so sorry, ...

If they are super-limited (5 or 10 maybe)...

...then I'm guessing that they are spoken for before being built. If you read the car sites, the $1M+ supercar manufacturers are always coming up with limited editions that are sold before they are built.

That Nonatieme is gorgeous !

If I wasn’t already committed to a VC and had the funds available I would be seriously tempted..

The business model is to raise the price of your watch from USD 10,000 to USD 12,000 based on the publicity.

The super-high end watches are intended to move JLC into a class that will allow them to charge more for their "regular" watches. If they also make a profit on the very fancy ones, so much the better.

These are halo pieces to help anchor the brand as high horology

...so that regular jlc/reverso (which I think are great btw) customers can feel as though they are owning something greater. The intention is probably more marketing than business, think the annual million dollar Victoria's Secret show pieces that elevate...

You are right.

But if my memory serves me right, in the 85th anniversarry, JLC release a regular Dual time with silver dial (recto) and black dial on the opposite (verso). ...

Thank you for the confirmation.

I understand that for any important anniversary, should be celebrated with very special, high horology pieces. The Quadriptyque and Nonetiemme are such the pieces. I think I am not alone here, hoping that for the rest of this year, JLC would come up with ...

I've been wondering the same. I'm not convinced the Quadriptyque is a halo model... or if it is it's not one for us...

It is certainly is an amazing work but it is so dissociated from anything else JLC makes that it doesn't really uplift the rest of the line. A halo piece is supposed to, well, cast a halo. Other than calling it a reverso, there's very little from an aesth...

Watch companies do a lot of research

before pricing their watches so if a hyper complicated watch seems expensive to us, there is a market out there that will ensure that these watches fly out of the window. Every brand has a right to show off what it can do and in so doing, it can price its...

It is my guess the wonderful Nonantieme will show up again down the road

Maybe in steel, or a different color combo, but eventually the non special people will have a chance to own this movement as well. Just as the Triple Split resurfaced after many years, so will this.
