Vintage is fun and watches has lots of character.

Our fathers and grandfathers wore what we call vintage as a daily watch, many gold dress calatrava style, and the watches survived well. The old ones had larger movement tolerance and built like a tank comparing to current watches. the main downside for a vintage is that you need to keep water away from it .
I find that vintage are interesting. they get a patina, which makes the whole watch looks interesting and nice.
As a vintage and modern lover, some inputs:
1. B&P - Not important. Its a nice have for a collector, but at the end of the day you stuck it somewhere and only enjoy the watch.
2. CONDITION CONDITION CONDITION - its all about condition. buy the best example you can even if its double the price (and you can afford it) . Its like vintage cars, much cheaper and easier to maintain and give some TLC to a 1st owner kept vintage then to restore a vintage.
3. Make sure dial and hands are in great shape, these are usually harder to replace , while fixing the movement is not an issue.
4. Prices for similar watches are all over the spectrum. Sometimes you get what you pay for (see no 2) but sometimes usually from dealers, they are just disconnected from any reality and looking to fish....
5. Enjoy. every watch is unique, has its own character.
