Hands on review of the Regulator Louis Erard x Vianney Halter

Avatar

It seems that Louis Erard has found the right formula. Thanks to recent collaborations with watch designers or makers, the brand is gaining significant visibility and strengthening its watchmaking legitimacy. Indeed, the announcement a few days ago of the release of the Regulator, designed with Vianney Halter, was perceived as an important event, relayed through the main information channels of the watchmaking community. Such media coverage and the success of the watch (the 178 pieces of this limited series .....Story

Hands on review of the Urwerk UR-220 "The Falcon Project"

Avatar

The Urwerk watch I prefer is the UR-202 which stands out for its reinterpretation of the principle of wandering hours thanks to its telescopic minute hands. The time runs continuously, with the central carousel making a constant and permanent revolution. I also really like the UR-210 even though it has a different concept: the large retrograde hand. Basically both watches share the same central carrousel that carries three satellites, each with a rotating cube...Story

Hands on review of the Girard-Perregaux Free Bridge

Avatar

Girard-Perregaux presented the Free Bridge along with its Infinity version at the end of August during the Geneva Watch Days. This watch is in line with the brand's strategic direction, which aims to strengthen the two key collections in the catalog: the Bridges and Laureato collections. I appreciate this approach. Girard-Perregaux has suffered for many years from a lack of identifiable models that could have brought a positive impact on the entire catalog...Story

As discussed in the announcement thread, this week's theme is "watches and our other hobbies / passions." We all share a passion for watches but what else do we share in common? Hopefully this thread will be a fun one and let us know a little more about what other hobbies / passions we have. I don't want to take up too much time for myself since the goal is to share and learn about others. I will list a few of my hobbies / passions below to get things started 😁 As some of you know, I have a watch sickness ... ...Story

A review on the Jaeger Lecoultre Geophysic DeLuxe Reference 2985.

Collecting watches and trying to learn more about them leads you to Modesty. Indeed, it can take one or two decades to learn everything about a watch, a reference. The Jaeger Lecoultre Geophysic is one of them, certainly. The most famous reference is the E 168, and it is a perfect example of what I formerly said...Story

Alpine A 110. Some thoughts.

Avatar

The Alpine Renault A 110 is one of these cars which are part of the Automotive Legends, and not only for the French People. Born in 1962, and produced for 16 years, this sportscar à la française attended some famous Rallyes, such as the Monte Carlo, and was a winner. It was made in a bit more than 7000 pieces. The recipe was simple: An ordinary motor, from Renault, and a light body, a bit like what Lotus did...Story

Hands on review of the Voutilainen Vingt-8 SC (28SC)

Avatar

Kari Voutilainen's 28SC (central second) has just won the men's watch prize at the last edition of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. I had the opportunity to see it a few weeks ago during the Geneva Watch Days and I was very impressed by it. I can therefore understand the jury's choice. It is obviously not the most surprising watch of the year...Story

Here is an other I have tried many times. The Repetition Souveraine from 2008. I love it for its stealth quality and very slim and elegant steel case. Some say it’s not the best sounding repeater out there but it is certainly not bad either...Story
